As National EMS week comes to a close, we would like to celebrate our newest EMT, Matt! He's put in a lot of hard work this year to learn how to help those in need. We are excited to have him as a part of our EMS crew.

Ponca Hills VFD was fortunate to host Eric Rasmussen from the NE Forestry Service to learn more about grassland fires. The factors that go into fighting a fire in the open are vast, and we are more prepared to fight them when they come!

Last night we got a surprise visit from Girl Scout Troop #48517! They brought us Girl Scout Cookies and a wonderful card. We'd like to give a big shout out to these future leaders and a big thank you to all the parents and community members that support them. Keep up the great work ladies!

It is with deep sadness that we report the line-of-duty death of Ponca Hills FireFighter Paramedic Dennis M. Bender. Firefighter Bender passed away as the result of a medical emergency while working in a support role at a large brush fire east of Fort Calhoun in rural Washington County.
